Terms of service

These terms govern your use of UsMend (the "Service"). By using UsMend you agree to these terms. We have tried to write them so a non-lawyer can read them in one sitting.

1. What UsMend is

UsMend is a private writing and conversation tool that helps you communicate in your relationships. It is not a substitute for medical care, therapy, legal advice, or any kind of crisis service.

If you or someone you know is in danger, please contact local emergency services or a crisis hotline available where you live.

2. Accounts

You can use the rewriter without an account. To use the relationship space, chat, memory, and relay features you create an account by giving us an email. You are responsible for keeping your login secure.

You must be at least 18 years old to use UsMend.

3. Free access and usage limits

• UsMend currently has no subscription, checkout, or card requirement.
• Free access includes daily or weekly usage allowances described on the free access page.
• Allowances reset automatically. We may adjust them to manage service costs, reliability, or abuse, with reasonable notice for material changes.
• Rewarded ads are optional. A reward is granted only after the ad provider reports completion, and availability is not guaranteed.
• Private drafts, chats, memories, and relationship-space content are not sent to the ad provider for targeting. See our privacy policy.
• If you made a historical purchase before free-only access began, we continue to honor applicable access and refund commitments. See historical purchase refunds.

4. Acceptable use

UsMend is for personal, non-commercial use in your own relationships. Please do not use it to:

• Harass, threaten, stalk, impersonate, or harm any person.
• Generate content involving minors in any sexual, abusive, or exploitative way.
• Scrape, resell, or commercially redistribute outputs without our written permission.
• Attempt to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the Service.
• Use the Service in connection with illegal activity.

We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

5. Your content

What you write in UsMend belongs to you. We process it to provide the Service (running language models, storing your space, generating outputs). We do not sell your content. See the privacy policy for what we keep, for how long, and what is encrypted.

You grant us a limited licence to host, transmit, and process your content for the purpose of operating UsMend. We can use anonymised, aggregated patterns to improve the Service.

6. Generated outputs

UsMend uses large language models to generate text. Generated outputs can be inaccurate, biased, or unsuitable for your situation. You are responsible for what you choose to send. Treat suggestions as drafts, not advice.

7. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from settings. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. After deletion or termination, your content is removed within 30 days, except for limited records we are required to keep for accounting or legal reasons.

8. Disclaimers and liability

UsMend is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that generated outputs will be accurate or suitable for any specific purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these terms or your use of UsMend is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (such as fraud or death/personal injury caused by our negligence).

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will give you notice — by email, an in-app banner, or a clear note on the site — before it takes effect. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by applicable law. If a dispute arises, we will first try to resolve it by email. Where a court process is required, disputes will be handled by a competent court, while consumers keep any mandatory protections of the country where they live.
